Abstract The aim of the article. The article discusses the nature and features of inventory management as the basis for the logistics of enterpise. The results of the analysis. Effective inventory management of an enterprise ensures uninterrupted meet of the needs of public goods at appropriate range. It is necessary to prevent the growth of surplus goods in warehouses, which leads to slower turnover of commodity funds, increasing the cost of storage inventory. Decrease in inventories of goods in warehouses promotes the release of working capital. Inventories are the part of commodity software that is a set commodity mass that moves from the production to the consumer. Inventories are formed at all stages of goods movement, the warehouses of industrial enterprises on the road, in warehouses wholesale and retail trade enterprises. The author proposes the approach to optimize the process of inventory management at the enterprise using methods of ABC- and XYZ-analysis. Recommendations for changing assortment and marketing policy are specified. The research is made on the example of the enterprises of cosmetic market. The study shows the need to improve inventory management of the analysed company. Provisions of accelerating the turnover of stock of the company depend on many factors. Knowing the dynamics of sales and the need for inventory, we can reduce the cost of generation and storage of inventory. Determination of the most popular and most profitable products is made. Basing on obtained data using ABC- and XYZ-analysis we can make conclusions about changes in assortment and marketing policy of the enterprise. Conclusions and directions of futher researches. For successful operation commercial enterprises must constantly keep track of key indicators by commodity groups and flexibly respond to changes in the current market. Prospects for further researches is in clarifing of motivational factors of innovative changes in the management of stocks at enterprises of various type.
