The Article processing charge and discount

All articles within the Marketing and Management of Innovations journal are released under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) 4.0 license, ensuring full open access. The journal operates on a Gold Open Access model, making the complete text of all published papers openly accessible for reading, downloading, or utilization with proper citations. This approach facilitates broader dissemination and enhances the accessibility of research. Free access is facilitated through an article processing charge (APC) paid by the author, the author’s institution, or a research funder, covering publication expenses.

The journal does not impose submission or peer review fees. Instead, the APC is settled when the article successfully passes the peer review process and is accepted for publication. This fee encompasses various aspects, including editing, text formatting, figure and table editing, as well as managing the review process, archiving articles, website administration (hosting, maintenance, and support), and promoting the journal and its articles (content distribution, indexing service maintenance), along with customer support.

The APC is remitted to the official account of Sumy State University.

Marketing and Management of Innovations provides the following APC depending on the country affiliations of the authors:

  • Authors from Ukraine – APC is UAH 6000;
  • Authors from other countries – APC is EUR 150.

The payment does not depend on the size of an article. The APC does not include the production and delivery of a printed copy of the journal “Marketing and Management of Innovations” to the author. Authors could order a hard copy of the issue. In this case, the author should inform the Editorial Office and cover the shipping cost (it depends on the author’s country).

The Journal also offers discounts for authors. The decision to grant discounts is made at the discretion of the Editorial Board in agreement with the Publisher.

The journal actively supports scientists from developing countries who may face challenges in securing grants and financial support for publishing their research results in open access. If authors are from countries undergoing military conflicts or encounter funding difficulties, the Editorial Board has the discretion to consider waiving the publication fee. Authors seeking such waivers should initiate contact with the Editorial Board and furnish a justification for the fee waiver.

Additionally, the journal extends opportunities for Ukrainian scientists to receive grants for publication, with an annual limit on the available funds. Authors interested in availing these grants need to submit a request to the Editorial Office of the Journal.

There are the following discount options available:

  • Authors with affiliation from low-income countries (World Bank) – 20%;
  • Authors with affiliation from middle-income countries (World Bank) – 10%;
  • Authors from countries with ongoing military conflicts or low-income individuals may be exempt from payment;
  • Members of the Editorial Board have the right to publish 1 article per year free of charge;
  • Reviewers can get a 50% discount.

In the case of an individual discount, the author must contact the Editorial Office. The Editors consider all cases individually.

The journal follows the recommendation of the Fair Open Access Alliance to provide a transparent payment structure, taking into account Principle 5 of Plan S.

Marketing and Management of Innovation refrains from accepting payments from entities in countries marked as risky or penalized (refer to the complete list here). The Journal actively assists scientists from developing nations, unable to secure grants for open-access publication of their research findings. Should authors originate from countries in military conflict or face financial constraints, the Editorial Board retains the discretion to consider waiving the publication fee. Authors seeking such waivers need to contact the Editorial Board, providing a rationale for the request.

Moreover, Ukrainian scientists are granted opportunities to secure publication grants from the Journal, with an annual limit on the available funds. Authors interested in availing these grants are required to submit a request to the Journal’s Editorial Office. All applications for fee waivers or discounts undergo individual review by the Journal’s Editorial Office.

Refunding the APC is possible only in cases of significant circumstances that prevent the publication of the article after the completion of the editorial process. However, the article processing charge will not be refunded in situations such as article withdrawal by the authors, retraction or correction of the article by the Collection’s editorial team, force majeure events, or the presence/absence of the article on external platforms.

For clarifications and consultations regarding financial matters, including invoices and discounts, authors can contact the Managing Editor at mmi@fem.sumdu.edu.ua. The journal sustains its operations through editing fees and support from Sumy State University.
